The price of Bitcoin surged by more than 3% to touch the $112,000 mark for the first time ever, lifting its year-to-date gains to 20%.
On Thursday, Bitcoin was trading above $111,000, up more than 2%, bringing its market capitalization to approximately $2.21 trillion.
This increase came as institutional investments continued to flow into Bitcoin exchange-traded funds, supported by the rally in U.S. tech stocks. Alternative cryptocurrencies also posted gains, led by Ether, Solana (SOL), and XRP—adding over $100 billion to the total crypto market cap in just 24 hours.
